Study shows that men shop and spend more than women

jcrew-store Recently, I have read in an interesting article by Business Insider about spending habits of men and women. Boutique @ Ogilvy, a fashion public-relations firm, discovered in a study conducted, that men spend on average more money on clothing and accessories in a month. They also found out, that men spend 20% more time shopping per week and are twice as likely than women to shop online. There are several hypotheses for these results:

  1. It costs more to produce men's clothes, therefore, the retail prices are higher.
  2. On average, men earn more money, so they can afford to buy more expensive clothing.
  3. There are many shops and brands offering cheap apparel for women, but not that many for men.
